Volunteers’ Rights & Responsibilities
This charter serves to establish guidelines for faculty, staff and students who wish to volunteer or participate in events or campaigns. It aims to ensure a positive and mutually beneficial experience for both the volunteers/participants and Ajman University. All student volunteers and participants are expected to commit to the terms outlined in this charter. Students interested in volunteering or participating must meet the criteria specified by the University. This may include academic standing, age requirements, and any relevant skills or qualifications for the designated volunteer role.
Volunteers' Rights
- Respect: The right to be treated with respect by their fellow volunteers, leaders, and the community.
- Training and Support: The right to receive enough training and support to effectively contribute to volunteering activities.
- Fair Treatment: The right to fair treatment, regardless of background, gender, race, etc.
- Safety: The right to a safe and secure environment while participating in volunteering activities.
- Appreciation and Rewards: The right to receive appreciation and gratitude for the time and energy devoted to volunteer efforts.
- Privacy: The right to the protection of personal information and privacy in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Volunteers' Responsibilities:
- Professionalism: The responsibility to conduct themselves in a professional manner and commit to the organization’s code of conduct.
- Communication: The responsibility to effectively communicate with leaders, peer volunteers, and the community involved in volunteering campaigns.
- Skill Development: The responsibility to actively seek opportunities for skill development and contribute to assigned tasks.
- Respect for Others: The responsibility to treat peer volunteers, leaders, and community members with respect and courtesy.
- Safety Awareness: The responsibility to be aware of and committed to safety protocols, ensuring a secure volunteering environment.
- Teamwork: The responsibility to collaborate and work effectively with other volunteers to achieve common goals.
- Commitment to Policies: The responsibility to adhere to the rules, policies, and guidelines set by the University, including attendance and participation. Please take the time to review the Attendance Commitment
- Dress Code: Volunteers are expected to dress appropriately, respecting the cultural and religious foundations of the United Arab Emirates. Inappropriate dress for both males and females is prohibited. It is imperative to dress in a respectful and modest way, with no display of obscene or offensive pictures or slogans on clothing.
- Confidentiality: Volunteers or participants may come across confidential information during their service. It is imperative that volunteers and participants respect and maintain the confidentiality of any sensitive information encountered during their duty.
